BombSquad...BombSquad.....BombSquad!

A Year in Review.....

USSSA World Series Runner Up!

Upon completion of the USSSA State tournament, our next feat would be the World Series. This is our first entry in to this type of tournament, but it was being held in Colorado so we figured it was a great opportunity. 12 teams were entered from California, Texas, Missouri, and Colorado. The event would open with pin trading, team skill challenges and an opening ceremony. (which was postponed due to crazy weather!) The Series would open with each team playing in pool play and then working their way through double elimination. BombSquad went undefeated in pool play and continued their way through 5 days of baseball winning every game. Our first loss went to Team Phenom from California who were exactly that....phenomenal! They were undefeated in the entire series which meant we ended up playing them in the Championship game. Team Phenom won the tournament and very much deserve the title. BombSquad hung tough through a competitive 2 games with Team Phenom and we now carry the Runner Up title which we are so very proud of. What a season!

2009 10AAA Colorado State Championships

The State Championships were held over the 4th of July weekend in Littleton, CO. There were 22 teams entered and thus we played pool play for the first 2 days. BombSquad went undefeated in pool play which seated us right where we like to sit. We played some tough teams and had to work hard at earning our spot. We played a nail biter against a Colorado Springs team where it came down to the final out and game tying run. Our catcher ran the third baseman down who was coming home. GAME OVER and we advance to the final day. We had a triumphant final day playing the Longmont Outlawz in the championship game. They played us hard but we ended up having more runs and winning back the State title. BombSquad are now back-to-back State Champions winning this year as 10AAA and last as 9AA. Way to go Black and Red!

Liberty Blast

BombSquad played in an 11 year old tournament at the end of June called the Liberty Blast. Our age divison was full so we took a shot at playing up. 9 months of practicing 3 days a week paid off and the boys won the 11 year old tournament. This was the warm-up tournament for the upcoming State tournament over the 4th of July weekend.

Memorial Day Classic

BombSquad took a challenge and played in the 11 year old division in Fort Collins, Co over Memorial Day. They held their own but also faced some tough teams which challenged the team emotionally and physically. The team ended up not qualifying for the final day of play but held tough through the weekend.

Ryan Johnston Memorial Invitational

Our second tournament of the season was played in Golden, CO. We were able to play 2 games our first day and then the rain came in. The tournament was called but we ended up winning first as we were undefeated in the games we did play.
