Super Series Strike Gold Tournament was held on June 2 and 3. Only 4 teams were entered however BombSquad was able to face teams they have never seen before. Saturday wasn't too challenging as the boys pulled off 2 victories. Sunday they faced a 14 Majors team with an impressive record. The first game was pool play and BombSquad beat the Bulldogs. Due to single elimination, both teams would face each other in the championship round. Tight game all the way through but a couple of errors brought the boys up short for the victory.

Battle at the Fort
BombSquad hit the field on May 4 for the Battle at the Fort. An early 8am game against one of the #1 teams in the state, the Eaton Reds, was a hard fought battle. BombSquad took the early lead for the first several innings. One big hit for Eaton and they jumped ahead winning the battle 12 - 5. Little time in between games and the boys were fueled and ready to go against Hitstreak Elite. The boys rallied a win here with a score of 11 - 4. Wait for Day 2....
Sunday morning arrives with another 8am game against the Boulder Bison Purple. BombSquad pulled out a good win with a score of 4 - 0 against a tough, local 14 year old team. Because of our seeding, we are now faced to play against the Eaton Reds. With our fearless leader out of state, the coahces stepped IN and the players stepped UP. Eaton took an early 8 - 1 lead through the 5th inning. Things didn't look in our favor, yet the boys played their hearts out with intensity and a true competitive spirit. Not quite sure the order of things, but BombSquad starting creeping in and the tightening the score. Before you know it the socre is 8 - 6, then 10 - 8 BombSquad, then 10 - 10, then 12 - 10 BombSquad, then 12 - 12........then BombSquad, after 2 extra innings, a 3 hour game, comes out with the WIN at 15 - 12! Probably the best played BombSquad game ever! Now the boys have ot head straight in to the semi-finals of the Championship bracket of the 14 DU2. BombSquad fought hard however lost to ProSwing 6 - 2. Great job BombSquad....3rd Place in the top bracket!!

Dakota Ridge Diamond Classic
BombSquad hit the field for a one day tournament on Saturday, April 7. 8 teams were registered at the 14 year old AA level. BombSquad started the morning against the Pueblo Terminators and came out with a 5-3 victory. Next game of pool play was against the Parker Bandits. The boys made this a quick game with a mercy rule win 16-1. The 5:30 game was the semi-finals against the Littleton Throwbacks. BombSquad pulled out another win with a 10-2 victory. Nightime was rolling in along with the chill and wind, leading us in to the championship round. Gametime was to be 7:30....we waited and waited and finally began play at 9:09pm. Needless to say we had sleeping siblings, yawning players and field lights that were expected to time out at 11pm. The Pueblo Terminators had the lead most of the game, however BombSquad pulled out a one run topper to end the game 5-4. Game ended one inning early due to city ordinances with the lights. No photos of the boys getting the medals....I was snuggled up in too many blankets and one of the parents with a sleeping sibling on my lap!
